Everyone has their automotive preferences. For me going fast is not really a priority. I’ll take a ultra luxo-barge before a supercar any day. When I daydream of being rich and famous, I’m not ripping around the Nurburgring in a Koenigsegg Agera. I’m driving to my holiday house overlooking the mountains in a Rolls Royce.

the problem with those cars is that they are made to be driven in not made to drive. yes a maybach is gorgeous but driving one is bleh so you need a chaefuer. if you don’t have one your much better off driving something actually fun like a Porsche

I did not know Volkswagen made ultra-luxury cars. Neato.

Conti GT is the exception in this post. Not only is it made to be driven, it’s ridiculously fast.

Yes, this. I approve of this.
Some of you may scoff at people like us, telling us that we’re not going the “proper” route. That if we must spend money and we can’t go carve corners or have 0-60 times under five seconds, that we’re spending it the “wrong way”. But let me tell you something, what good is a performance car, if you can’t live with the positives on a daily basis, and instead have to live with the drawbacks?
Yes, you can tell me that high performance engines and grippy tires are what “proper luxury cars” should be about and that’s the only way to justify the price. But I think in practical terms, if I don’t live in twisty mountains or can’t hammer down without getting a ticket, those positives are gone. All I’m left with now is a car that’s hard to see out of, has rock-hard suspension that makes my back ache, is incredibly loud to the point of being uncomfortable, and makes me look a noveau-riche asshat or an exchange student going to college at USC (University of Spoiled Children)
So for me, comfort, isolation, quietness, and a long hood are what people like us prefer. We understand the appeal these supercars have, but it’s not worth the drawbacks. For us, we would rather have comfort we use everyday, than performance we can’t.
You only get one life, and your car should reflect that. For us, we want to slow down and enjoy it, instead of speeding up and getting it done as soon as possible.
Long live the Comfort Kings.

They did! Second best VW ever made after this one.

Agreed 100%. Fast cars are lovely and I still want a bit of power, but I’ll take ultra-luxury over ultra speed.
Fortunately none of the above cars are in any way slow.

No no, that’s a Bugatti . Can’t you see the logo?

A Rolls Wraith is made to be driven in? I’d like to see the sucker that buys one of those and crawls in the back seat every time he wants to go somewhere.
![]() 09/09/2015 at 17:05 |

Yes a 500+hp Rolls is plenty to cruise around in.
![]() 09/09/2015 at 17:08 |

Bah! While you’re being overtaken by diesel Audis, I’ll be in my comfy cloud on the way to Nandos (Yes I would still go to Nandos if I could afford a 650S).

Well worded response. That is 100% exactly how I feel. True car guys will notice you in a Rolls if you are desperate for attention. You don’t need a lime green lambo so everyone everywhere(including the cops) is ALWAYS looking at you.
If you are buying for the attention you are buying for the wrong reasons as well.
I’d much rather cruise in a Rolls or Bentley and have 95% of the people not even notice because in reality it’s for me and not for others.
Now make me a grey poupon samich damn it!

If only RR could make wheels that didn’t look like hub caps.
![]() 09/09/2015 at 17:16 |

Exactly. Of all the cars I could have if I suddenly became very wealthy, it would be a new S600 or a S65 coupe. Keep your lambros and ferraris, I’ll take my big body Benz, thank you very much.
![]() 09/09/2015 at 17:20 |

Ferraris, Lambos, Bentleys and RRs are all pleb cars.
![]() 09/09/2015 at 17:20 |

Depends how you define “bleh”. It’s not engaging or electrifying, for sure, but it’s easy and relaxing and supremely plesant in a different way. The way the car drives has been just as thoroughly engineered as the rest of the car, just not to be a Miata.

Bentley Brooklands for me, please!
![]() 09/09/2015 at 17:22 |

Pretty sure that’s a Lambo, dude.

How are Spyker’s sales going? :P
![]() 09/09/2015 at 17:23 |

I agree Spiker has an interior that’s simply stunning but I thought they were no longer?
![]() 09/09/2015 at 17:24 |

As good of a point as you have, I don’t fit the the imagine of “old money” like that. If i was rich, I’d have a garage full of ferrari’s because...well just because
![]() 09/09/2015 at 17:24 |

Well I mean you could get a Maserati ya know....but a Bentley defiantly something I would get as well.
![]() 09/09/2015 at 17:26 |

I did not even know that existed! What a beaut!
![]() 09/09/2015 at 17:28 |
|
Considering (IIRC) they only wanted to sell 40 cars a year, probably “okay”.
![]() 09/09/2015 at 17:28 |

Maserati is nowhere near high end enough for my taste. That’s a luxury car not an ultra-luxury car.

Website is still up, counts for me!

We need a damn Mulsanne coupe. I LOVE big 2 door Bentleys.
![]() 09/09/2015 at 17:30 |

The only Ferrari I want is the Enzo. That would be my only supercar. The rest would be ultra-lux cars as pictured above.

I know
where you can get one
if you’re in the market soon ;)

Why am I so broke. And why isn’t there a 7 series on my driveway.
I hate being a college runt.

![]() 09/09/2015 at 17:52 |

A 7 series is but a toy in comparison to what I’m talking about but at least it’s better than an M3.
![]() 09/09/2015 at 17:52 |

Fair enough.
![]() 09/09/2015 at 17:54 |

For me, there’s nothing better than getting inside, settling down and feeling a warm embrace from the seats; as if the car was whispering “everything will be all right” while playing Footsteps in the Night Sky.

Yes.
![]() 09/09/2015 at 18:07 |

So today at a clients house I saw a 57S. Did you know they’re becoming “in demand?” You may have trouble finding one for a discount, but then again, no one wants to be a ‘discount baller.’
Unfortunately I cant really say anything else about the garage. Guy was super nice though. Awesome collection of cars.
![]() 09/09/2015 at 18:21 |

Go to the older ones. I spoke to a cool guy today that said the interiors in the newest ones are a bit sub-par as far as the Maybach name goes. And yes, he has the garage to back up his claim.
Truly a case of not building anything like they used to.
![]() 09/09/2015 at 18:22 |

Sorry, but if you ever pass up the chance to drive a 57S because theres no chauffer, we cannot be friends.
![]() 09/09/2015 at 18:23 |

I’d prefer the 62 but still it’s nothing to sneeze at.
![]() 09/09/2015 at 18:24 |

I would hoon the fuck out of a maybach but also feel awkward sitting up front when the backseat is where it's at
![]() 09/09/2015 at 18:26 |

Its the biggest baddest S Class that no one thought of taking to the track. I would LOVE to see any Maybach at the drag strip. Things are WAY faster than most people realize.
![]() 09/09/2015 at 18:31 |

Many yes
![]() 09/09/2015 at 20:06 |

I agree, I vastly prefer the 62 to the S600 maybach. I would buy a “normal” S600
![]() 09/09/2015 at 20:43 |

(Also a VW)
![]() 09/09/2015 at 22:15 |

Definitely a Ferari.

no, that’s a Fiat.

I love it that the hood ornament costs more than my first car. :)

x2. would be the DD.
Then I guess a Sierra Denali 2500 to haul track toys.
